I'm browsing the forums and fixing to pick up a 2000 model from my mom to add to the fleet. Got to cut some stuff to make it fit right but it looks good lol His was the main reason why I went with mine in the first place. If youre talking about the j35 or j30 engine swap, its been done a few times from what i remember. Sidenote: My dad has a 2002 with 240000kms with original tranny and still drives like new. Would you please share the where about in Scarborough the mechanic is?Ĭould you kindly share the whereabouts of this mechanic in Scarborough? Thanks. Anyway, as you can imagine I was pissed since I regularly maintained the vehicle meticulously since I owned it and the previous owner was an single older gentleman who only drove it up north to his cottage. I was aware ahead of time of the issues but figured this would at least give me up at least 200k before showing any signs of tranny failure. It currently has 158000kms and the Transmission finally gave in on Friday. Mliongco wrote: ↑I bought a used 2000 Odyssey 2 years ago with only 136000kms. Tmkf_patryk has no clue what hes talking about btw, the torque converter is fine, if you want more information or if your the first buyer you can prob get honda to give goodwill or even 50% of cost, read this thread, a bit long but good reads i do very nice van, but i still love my TLS and still going strong since feb 07, key thing is to change the tranny fluid here and there ( i go every 9-12 months depending on the color and smell).i drove from toronto-mtl 3 times, and toronto-nyc 3 times with the same car/tranny and havent failed me since.Īlso if u look on you will see many people are putting in the 6spd or 04+ tl trannys in the TL/Accords, which bolt right up to the existing j series engines.there are a few oddy clubs out there, but i dont venture on that club. Id recommend a newer gen oddy if you like them. it wasnt the oil being hot, its the 3rd gear clutch patch would not get enough fluid there and would burn/overheat, so they made a temp fix with the oil jet kit, which didnt do much anyways i owned a 99 tlp and now a 02 tls and both died, but honda claimed they fixed the issue. it was the 5 speed ka5at from the J series engines that had this problem. Honda may have improved the transmission for that year?ĩ9-03 was hell for honda transmissions, not the oddessy alone, the accord and acura tl had problems, the 4 speed trannys were fine. His was the main reason why I went with mine in the first place. If you're in the market for one, I'd say.stay clear unless your willing to take your chances with a Honda transmission timebomb. I bought a used 2000 Odyssey 2 years ago with only 136000kms.
